DKDI-21 Drum Piezo Expander - Home

News - July 2011

The DKDI-21 expander is a simple electronic interface which allows the expansion of the number of inputs on the Yamaha DTXpress I, II and III drum modules.

It has also found many uses with Roland modules and users making their own dual piezo DIY drums & cymbals.

Anywhere where you have a dual piezo but need it to be piezo/switch type for the module.

This site is not affiliated with Yamaha (or Roland).

DTxpanders will now unfortunately cost £10.30 each.  This is to reflect the increasing costs of postage, VAT and components.

I realised the pictures didn’t actually reflect the final build - I added test terminals to solder to. I have now updated the pictures.

It’s finally here! Not a “new improved” expander as I had hoped, but a smaller cheaper one instead.

Supplied as a built PCB with no wires, case or connectors, it is around a third of the price of the original boxed version.

As you can see it is tiny, mainly to keep the cost down - the bare PCB costs more than the rest of the components put together. There are two M2 clearance mounting holes.

The PCB is FR4, single sided with solder resist.
